A Sporty Look at Science and Health

Terrific Science Workshops ApplicationCOURSE OVER 
  • participants: middle and high school physical education, science, and health teachers and coaches
  • dates: 2-day workshops plus implementation, reporting, and May 2005 follow-up; choose one of the following:
    • June 10–11, 2004 + May 13–14, 2005
    • July 12–13, 2004 + May 13–14, 2005
  • location: Miami University Middletown (OH)

Do your students know the batting averages of all their favorite players or the stats of their favorite teams, but don’t know enough to wash their hands after using the john? How does physical education affect health? Take your students’ interest in sports and use this as a hook to learn about science and health. This workshop will provide you with practical information and activities that are easily incorporated into your health, physical education, or science curriculum.

Program Benefits

  • tuition: All tuition and most fees provided
  • credit*: 2 semester hours of credit provided
  • stipend*: $75 stipend to cover out-of-pocket expenses
  • travel minigrant: up to $75 based on distance from Miami University Middletown
  • course materials provided
  • food and housing: lunch provided; limited double-occupancy rooms available for those outside the immediate area
  • partial substitute reimbursement of up to $65 for May 13

* Credit and stipend awarded upon meeting all course requirements, including completing a final project, using course materials with target groups, and reporting results. Graduate credit requires previous completion of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college.
